These are some robots to practice colouring on. As you can see I'm a ninja colourist. You couldn't even tell these were touched with colour, could you?

The Escapist had a contest for a cartoonist. The winner was awarded a contract. The entrance requirements was five strips, an icon logo, and a summary. After doing the first strip, I proposed the other comic ideas to friends and they gave me their opinion. All of my friends agreed I'm a better colourist than a humourist. Which isn't saying much at all. Although, they did break it to me nicely.

The strip was about sh33pl (sheeple) (sheep-people) and miscellaneous characters who would talk about game related news and events in a humorous fashion. Main character was a sheep guy Don and his pomegranate friend Pom. Yes, they are caterpillar-ing to work.

Much like Scott Adams (creator of Dilbert) says, find news that's ninety percent funny, then add your own ten percent and you have a good gag.

Yeah, I know. Could be funnier.

This is a runner for a mexican Cartel that got pinched by a drone. A little convoluted and could be laid out better. The previous post of the green space marine was supposed to be the colouring study of these two pages. Though worked okay on the marine (a little dark) it didn't work out the numerous times I tried with the pages. Just didn't. I am not a natural colourist.

Oh and the yellow bars are meant for text. My brother was the writer, I wanted to show where the ideal places for text are.

Not so quick, quickie

Here's a space marine I was drawing, then my brother out of the blue is like, "Lets draw future war stuff!!!" My older brother is very much a war enthusiast. Like an armchair general he likes to bathe in the realism of simulated experiences. Nolan very much enjoys things like Halo Wars and Submarine Simulators. If it's too extreme or too damn entertaining he'll shy away from it. Claustrophobia can result when he feels that too much spectacular explosions and run and gunning are being forced down his throat.

So, about the picture. The space marine was originally meant to be more blue/metallic themed. Like most space environments. However, I was like, "Hey Nolan, I'm drawing a space marine, I'll just colour him green and stuff." Nolan was like sure, "I'll keep writing while you diddle."

Is it done? I dunno. I think it's a laughable attempt at colouring, but still makes me smile inside. The story would be about a young girl who inherits a house from some super-extended family. Upon arriving she is warned to stay away from the house and disown it. She of course ignores it being an impoverished young girl. Bam! She turns into a vampire. Various characters are added and some mystery and much humour is definitely involved.

I'll be turning this image into a cover for the graphic novel codenamed 'Sistas'. I'm excited. I'm even shaking a little. I really liked how this turned out. Usually when I stay up late doodling the next morning I'm a little like, "What the hell, I remember this being a good drawing when I went to bed!" I usually assume a person switched a drawing or two with a bad one. Anyways my process to develop this into a colour might be documented. Or I just might tell you here.

Here's a few pics that are special to me. I didn't scan them as I wasn't really gunning for showing my lines as much as the work itself. It's going to be a story of mine. It'll be naughty, fun, and hopefully entertaining.

This third pic has a:

1. pamphlet for the novel three day writer's contest. It's more like a marathon, I wanted to make a graphic novel. Still debating whether I want to do this or not. I did however find the 24 hour comic event. No prizes there. Just loads of fun; see link on right. The nearest one to me will be in Vancouver sometime in October. I might host one here in Prince George if I can find enough crazy artists willing to do it with me.

2. Is the main character's bunny sidekick. A silent companion. Even when screaming in fright.

3. Is a man the main character will befriend for a short time. Boy I'm so excited. I want to work on it right now, but I'm doing stuff for Mike's Counterfet. As well as Babak's comic. I'm really behind on that. Also, will I actually complete it on time for the three day marathon? I really want the story to come through concisely. With the images depicting the scenes with proper emotional accuracy.

Here's a sloppy robot sketch. It's not the robot's fault he's sloppy. I was testing out some new dip pens and brushes with real india ink because I was tired of just using hard graphic pens. He took like ten minutes to sketch. Or at least it felt like ten minutes.

A Matter of Preference

Good morning. Well it's morning for me at any rate. Here's a footballer guy I did as an extra piece for my portfolio. Well Evan, what do you think about football? That's a good question. Honestly, if I have to compare it to another sport, I'd have to go for rugby. Unlike football, in rugby you don't have to start a new huddle everytime the ball goes down. Which is nice. As that makes the game more intense to watch and play. Football I find is like the fake WWE/WWF crap. At least in the media. High school and minor leagues are totally cool with me. People seem to forget that football is a bunch of well tuned gentleman playing with a ball while women are on the side lines dancing. Fatty's are in the stands watching away, and rich mofos are betting in they're little booths. For the professional athlete however, this is the top for him. There isn't no other place where he will have the fame, the fortune and the respect he has earned. I really respect the guys who would play no matter the crowd, the money, or the weather.

All in all, rugby is better. It's okay if you want to get emotional about it.

If the DYC executives ask me to do the tee-shirt for next year, it will be WAY cooler looking than this. Granted, it's all volunteer, so I'd have to propose a cool tee-shirt instead of getting asked.

Don't Get A Head of Yourself

It's highly unrecommended to 'get ahead of yourself' as it leads to issues of continuity. Here's a robot head. It's almost done for blocking in. THAN I can start to detail the geometry a 'leetle' more. A lot better than the vague version I was going off of before. I really really really really really had to draw a new head. I might actually pull up that old spikey robot sketch and re-draw the new head onto it. I hope I didn't ink it, that might be a problem. If someone were to read this in the future they would notice that the 3D robot and the concept robot are slightly different. At least in matters of the mind, err... head.

It's kinda weird. For the second pic, the one of the building; MentalRay crapped out on me and I might have to reinstall it. I'm using the Maya Software Renderer within Maya 2008. Pretty good without using textures. I might eventually throw a bump-map onto the ground. I'm also trying to get it to dissappear faster.

The Spikey Robot guy is a Work In Progress of course. He's pretty complicated and I wish I did more technical drawings of it before I started modelling it. Ah well!

Also, on a personal note. My toilet made an explosion sound after usage. No leaking occurred, but my immediate thought was, "Don't die Meester toilet! I need you to eat my poo!"

There is a character/relationship factor that draws me to Family Guy. I'm not sure why I think that but I have reason to believe it's based off of awkward or doomed relationships. We look at Brian (the dog) with his relationship with his dense girlfriend. We know behind the scenes that this cannot work sexually. At least not very well. When I watch this isn't a prominent notion; though it is in the back of my mind. It sort of draws me to failed heroes in more maturer stories. Like Boromir from Lord of The Rings. The Romeo and Juliet story. Love that's doomed to exist but does despite the knowledge. I don't know. This is a rambling.

Old Biz Card Idea

Well despite my foray into the animation industry with demo reel in completion; still no calls concerning employment. These characters I was looking to put onto the back of my business cards. In a manner like a playing card, a Jack, King and Queen. I didn't feel the card was coming together and I went for a simpler idea.

I did not correct or 'even' out the tone in my picture in Photoshop, and what you are seeing is the quality of my scanner. There are shadows around the edges of the picture. They might even seem a little out of focus. This is because my scanner has edges or a 'ridge' around the glass that lifts anything larger than scanner size (8.5" x 11.5") thus creating shadows and out of focus material.

This is why I would never like to scan my animation, let alone it takes a loooonnnng time to do something like that. My friend Chris Peters has done that and corrected and coloured every frame in photoshop. Poor soul. (http://chrisimation.blogspot.com/) Also, animation paper is bigger than 8.5" x 11.5".

I am almost 'there' for being done my demo reel, I simply have to assemble all the animation and then burn it to a CD and/or DVD. Here's a page from the PreJump comic I was working on. With every picture or project I always get the feeling to not post something and tear it down and start anew. I am going to begin to play with illustrator. Last time I was in Adobe Illustrator I was extremely frustrated and wished I was in Photoshop. When I'm doing a clean coloured image in Photoshop I wish I was in Flash, and when I'm in Flash I wish I'm something that can read my mind. Ces terrible!

Blue Bot

Two robots for my game. I'm thinking of changing the name of 'Prejump' to something scientific and foreshadow-ingly tasty. The first one is a patrol guard for high security premises. The second is a gernerus. Or. Gerneric robot that has multi-attachment points for various things. Like guns and scientific intruments (geiger counter).

Went to Fedex Kinkos today. I phoned like a month before asking the measurements for business cards. Of course when I go in today I get metaphorical hiccups. Had to come back home and correct the oddities in layout. That's it for whining hour. Otherwise inking a few pages of my comic and my stork story to add into my disposable portfolio. Oh did I mention that anywhere previously?! Well, surprise. Yes, I have the comic thought out pretty well. The visuals and story I find are pretty original. Nothing ground breaking, but still interesting.

I have a habit of wanting to redo the things. I always feel I can do better the following week. I probably could. I just wouldn't make any progress that way, and I have to tread somewhere other than in one spot. Otherwise that's called a death march. Hot damn.

The 'Stork Story' is a little story I thought of when I went to visit Mikki (my g/f) when her two sisters had their babies within twenty-four hours of each other. I figured thats pretty special, and a story came into my head. Again nothing ground breaking, but it's solely visual. No words except the title. That way I feel all ages can read it without having to bear the "Dave ran to the store. He ran fast." single subject sentences that always make suicide enticing. Hot damn.

Here's some art I was challenging myself to in Concept Art's 'Crusade Challenge' of the month. Start with a hero and face it off versus an Overlord, the light and dark sides must have to face an overlord scary enough to warrant a union. Being a member of the dark team here's my character. Disease. A plague man. The top character is the final iteration I'm gonna say I'll stick to. The bottom is my overlord. Still have to think of something scary about him. Hmmm, he created the game fart tag. That's pretty evil I think.

Golem Bear Guy. I don't happen to mention that this 'guy' is Guy Pierce, rather just a guy. Most people happen to mention their reaction when I show them this picture, usually it involves mental consternation to make sense of a man riding a bear like a cowboy with a fiery golem chasing en route. The brother's sister is actually too tall. She would be a lot taller than the bear-riding cowboy if they were put side-to-side. It's never too late to change it, but who says I will?

I always had this idea that makes me laugh, I tried to convey it to Marcus see the lowest picture, but it didn't come out right. Second time is lucky right?

On a Trip

Through and through, I did some work with my Pa in Fort St. John (Northern BC). It was good fun, then went on a road trip in an RV up to the Yukon just until Watson Lake. Then we crashed at Liard Hotsprings after that. Quite an experience. My mom has pictures of the place on her camera. I didn't bring mine, too lazy. Did some drawings. Some I'll be colouring for practice and fun, others I'll just correct and post on here. Such as these guys.

A Well Rested Weekend

Sleep feels great, but it's nothing without being tired or needing it first. I've been attending the Vancouver artist's Draw Jam every Thursday. It's been fun, I always hear good news (usually) about animation employment. I have saved up enough to live unemployed for a while and will be working super-time on my demo reel.

Of course here's a drawing I did for the Drawing Board's superheroes thread. The theme was deities. I did Morrigan of the Celtic gods. She is the goddess of death and battle. However, I took some liberties on it. Morrigan is actually a young woman chosen (by sacrifice) from a village. She has to do the duties of 'said' goddess. The crow's behind her force her to do her bidding of taking the lives of many. One of her signs is the death of cattle. In her past life she lived with her father. Her father was cattle tender. She loved to play with the cattle while her father tended to the herd. When she was chosen out of malice from her village, her father was killed in defense of her. At the apex of her sacrifice when the stones had killed her, the crows took her spirit and saved the body. When she awoke much time had passed. In anger she did her first bidding and took the lives of all those who had harmed her. The crows told her she then had until her body turns to dust to do the chores of the wicked goddess. Taking the lives of people at their time of passing.

When visible she is cold to the touch and may appear or dissappear at will. In her shame of taking lives, she refuses to appear to anyone and in her spectral realm will walk among the living without their knowing and will touch them when it's their time.

If I take this into a story, then Morrigan will be taunted in her unnatural life by a living man many generations after her sacrifice. This man will win her affections, but will he win her heart of ghostly shadow over before her corpse turns to dust. The crows force her to take more living lives as wars wage. Will her taunting lover be one of them. Can they cheat the ever-present crows, fate, and their mortal and immortal natures?

Well, I've taken up a labour job with my best bud Rhett. He scored me the job and I really appreciate it as the guys are pretty cool. As such, I work in a condo tower, called Sapphire. Of course during my break I took some pictures. I did take some pictures of the downtown cranes near Science World, however they are bloody blurry. However the ones from my tower aren't. Lucky lucky. Here they are. Some more concepts have been completed towards the game, Pre Jump. Of course I can't show them. As soon as the promotional art has been done I can show that as well as my WIP (work in progress) of them. Here's those pictures.

Merry New Year!

Ahh, that was a good break, wedding, and Christmas. My 'seester' got hitched and i gotta say it was phenomenal. Also, I cut my hand in a tragic cooking endeavor. It is now incapacitated. Had surgery while I was missing my girlfriend's sister's wedding. Got out of the hospital in time for the reception. Me and Mikaela (gf) have decided that this year is 'The Year of Weddings' seeing as the majority of our friends are now hitched, and we had to attend as many as we could. It killed us not to be able to make the weddings we would have loved to go to.

On another note, I have decided to pull out temporarily from art school. I have one semester to work and heal my hand. In the meantime, it's art making time while I look for work. It's Vancouver and it seems there's plenty. Despite the racial remark of immigrants "stealin' ur jerbs!" (southpark) Vancouver is booming. I'll take a picture of downtown and all the cranes and construction and add them in later.

Here's some doodles done over the break. This third one is one of my 'twin' sister and my cousin buddy Cori and Alsandair. We played a lot of Settlers of Catan, despite being really grossed into the drawing while playing the game I mis-spelled Settlers. Many people played with us, but it has always been us three over the holiday. Merry New-Year every-one. I-love-hyphens!

A New Post! Already!

Wow, another post two days after the last one?! Evan Ramsay, you must be some sly fox indeed! Well not really. It just tells you what days of these months I have free :S. At any rate, I'm actually kind of surprised at the occasional comment I've been getting, it brings them up to four in total. Thats fantastique! Only two comments from my habitual stalker Marcus.

Having comments on my blog-doodad feels like walking around with a journal or diary and having dropped it at a bus stop and having nice strangers read and leave a message in a page. It's a neato feeling. And! According to Mozilla Firefox spell checker, neato is not a word. I'll see if my gf can catch that one in Scrabble.

Heres some vehicles that might make it into a map for mine and Randy's game. I don't want to release any characters and environments as those are more sensitive to the game and have a style seen before but not too oftenly used. Apparently 'oftenly' is also a no-no word.

The car/truck thinger is poorly done and quickly sketched. Ignore it, as I was just playing while waiting for a scene to load in Maya at school. The two spaceships are concepts for the game, but they will go under more transformations as my skill progresses. So I can show those before their copyrighted.

Most just get doodled and the spaceships got a terrible ink job. My intent was to erase the pencils underneath that are visible everywhere if you aren't closing your eyes or have two apple cores in your sockets replacing them. You'll notice I didn't quite erase my sloppy pencils. Bad Evan!

A funny thing struck me this weekend. It wasn't a clown. But rather a culmination of things that quite literally gave me a realization. In one of my classes, Professional Development. Our teacher tells us that through spending time with someone you can determine what sort of person they are (in relation to personal behavior). Maybe because he's half Scottish, or just because he's naturally this way, he also haggles for things. The funniest thing about it is that given time he can haggle any price, no matter how 'concrete' and set in stone it may be. All it takes is time. Time to figure out what kind of person he is talking to is.

Now lets take the current festive season right now... Christmas. Most people will pay for gifts that %77 of most Vancouver's population say they don't need any gifts this year ( i can't remember the source). I imagine it isn't too dramatically different in most North American places. However, whats the one thing that people who give gifts hope to feel? I imagine most people want to feel that they have contributed to that person's life and that they are thankful and wanted. Well if the majority of people don't want gifts, what do they want or need? I imagine it's time. What does my teacher from above have to do to relate to this? Well the one secret to buying things cheap ass, is a fact that he spends time with the customer rep and makes them feel special inside. Like he's their best mate. The English accent probably helps a lot. He gets close and will really connects with that person. Some might frown on this, but what do they know. He connects with the person behind the counter. This isn't some false Jedi mind trick. He doesn't put on a fake face. He makes it so that the customer rep feels he's won something from that meeting, and has actually gained from risking himself to getting fired for lowering a set price.

Sounds pretty incredible, but being with the guy, I've seen him raving mad, to making me feel like the most important student to him. Although I probably ain't by a long shot. So, instead of buying Christmas presents this year im going to try spending time with people.Not just sitting around watching TV, I'm trying a coffee or a good old discussion. It's the connecting that I find is quite magical.

Another thing, somethings have drastically changed since the time of our parents and parent's parents. I feel it is likely the time spent doing things. Going from redneck to city slicker has quite clearly shown it in a great and Godly light. People nowadays are willing to spend the sticker price to above the sticker price as long as they get it fast. I was at A&W's yesterday, and I thought that my teacher couldn't probably haggle his own whistle dog out of this place (there was a big lineup). Whereas if he was in 100 Mile (a small norther town in BC, Canada) he could without a shadow of a doubt get the whistle dog for free, seeing as there isn't a boatload of people breathing down their necks.

Some people eh?

Hello and hello, theres no excuse to why I've neglected this blog, this outlet and an 'on the side project.' No worries, though. For every deviation a rightful turn is soon to be around. I don't have any pictures to post up, however, it does not mean I haven't been busy. Quite busy. Demo reel and all. I've working on making my demo reel mostly Flash, with a separate sprinkling of 3D animations.

Break Time!

Woo! My last break is here! One more major semester to go and then I am out of art school! It's not that I don't like it, it's just that now that I have learned so much, I really want to apply it. Unlike university programs that stop in the summer and more relaxing assignments, I can't have a job, a hobby, or even a real social life (ask my girl friend!). She's a student as well, so we understand each other excellently.

Here's some comic pages I was working on to put in the last portions of my demo reel. I am most definitely having second thoughts. So I am re doing the pages at a different story period and revamping the script with the help of my older bro. This comic is based on me and Randy's game. The story is meant to keep our subscribers interested in the back story as we create the game. I am making this comic because not everyone wants to read a twenty five page short story about their Half Life Mod. I also like having any excuse to draw action sci-fi stuff. Of course I expect the criticism on my comic/story, so bring it on. ;)

First Page is meant to show a civilian space station crashing to a planet-like earth. The main character in the pages and panels after that is a crash lander who escaped from the falling wreck in an escape pod. Anyways, tired, had my last exam today. Motion Capture exam. Wasn't too bad, kinda fun. G'night.

This was done slightly before my break. After I worked on it I tucked it away for a while, now I pulled it up again I can spot billions of mistakes about it. One is I didn't use definitive lines and my knowledge of anatomy too well, when I could have. Also, I just read, "The Children of Hurin" by J.R.R. and Christopher Tolkien. Man I love that book, it's a literary delight. It's very unlike modern fantasies that I find lack the core fundamentals of solid story and a heavy theme. So rich yet cryptic when deciphering all of it's meanings. I wish I was everything so I could write, illustrate and publish my own books and such. So far i have two definite stories/novels I would like to work on when I am out of art school (including illustrating them, like a picture novel. Again, like the novel Children of Hurin.)

Well I have good news, and, well I don't know, other news I s'pose. First off. That wulfen character (said character:Wulfen) I will have the option of texturing and rendering him for an assignment! Well, in our advanced lighting and texturing class our teacher told us today that we will be given an open final project that we will have to complete using understood techniques and magickery from the CG (computer generated) world. I am excited because quite a few options ran through my mind of what to do. Then I realized I had an excellent character to place in an environment of my desire. Huzzah! So I don't have to wait till I am graduated to texture/light my character, I can do it on school time! Whew. Oookay, enthusiasm has recessed a little.

What next... hmmm, I've turned to doing some freelance work for a few extra buckaroos. Maybe an animated short. Which would be nice.

Also, me and my new parish priest are getting along fabulously. Not to say that the previous priest was bad or anything, it's just me and Fr. Mark just step off on the right foot. He told me he chaplained at a military base which is cool, seeing as I've spent the majority of my time in cadets. Not only that, he's new to the big city. Seeing as I am a noob at almost every endeavor, I believe I retain that "new-to-the-big-city" aura around me. I also like to come up with questions for him to answer as he answers them really well for me. So we both have a few similarities. Really cool guy.

Last subject, I need to post a picture, or this is a terribly boring art blog. Boo.. So here's some random pictures I leave around for days like this. These are from my first semester of entering art school:

Hi everybody, here's those cool pictures I have been promising lately. Been too busy to colour them, I might do one of them as a portfolio piece. Anyways, about the drawings; the last guy is in a skin tight space suit while wearing combat shorts. I love shorts, thus he has to wear shorts. Especially in space. His space helmet doesn't have any hoses visible either, should have fixed that before I scanned. Woops!

Things are finally starting to get going. I love how it smells so much of promise. Some mod teams I find (even at my college) they are so full of hope and high expectations that when they see their mod in it's early stages and how much work they have left to do. Thats when the teams starts to separate because of large amount of work involved. With us, we have no illusions about losing days and weeks to the completion of this project. This mod is my main hobby, with regular exercising too of course. Just awesome.

Sometime after I graduate, I'll texture this guy and put him into the pose and environment I have recently thumbed out yesterday. There will be two hopefully. A tribute to an artist in a book I have, it's the profiles of the artists of Imaginary Friends Studios. Of two of the pics in the book, two kinda inspire something for this guy. The pics are called bloodrush and bloodlust. The pics aren't huge and great masterful works of art, well maybe they are, because they show the two feelings awesomely without much detail. I think a werewolf can easily fit into those two themes. Especially with what I have in mind. When my comp is working, I'll post up some awesome coloured drawings I did during my break. They do have lot's more effort than any other drawing in this blog. Toodles!

Redonkulous Break

Sorries I've been gone so long without posting. I plan on texturing the wulfen guy, but I really don't know when. I really want to work on some game characters for a mod I'm on. So I'm at odds with my time not to mention school. Plus, my computer right now is busted. Over the break while I was away some carpet cleaners came and messed it up. Not sure how, but I can only tell the mobo and HDs are fine, and it's the start button* that is the real source of the problem. Solution: bought a new case. It comes in tomorrow. My original case is so dilapidated that when friends came over they thought I stole parts and made it. I assured them thats not true. It is the equivalent of some high school kid's junker car. The lifespan on this surprised me enough as is, ha ha. Anyways, as soon as my comp is up and working, I can colour my drawings. And yes, I spell the "colour" the Canadian way. Eh?

*start button isn't necessarily a button, but rather the guts of a previous button that makes a clicky noise when you click it.

EDIT:

As soon as my comp is up and working, you'll also see many new things popping up as well. Like a our mod website. Within a month of hosting that bad boy, very likely content will up and singing prettily. I can't really reveal all of my ideas right now (or even when the site's up) as since we are in our birthing stages, and may be prone to thievery, viral attacks, infringement, etc... However, I can tell you it is a Half Life 2 mod, it is a shooter and RPG. The focus is on shooting, the RPG element is simply there for preferences and characterization of your player to a very limited degree. There's quite a few surprises we have in store that Randy might need some help with programming wise. I can tell he'll be pulling some late nights frying his brain over code. Fun times. Likewise, I'll be up pushing my pencils or polygons around making maps, characters, concepts, props, etc... Hope you read this sometime Jackie, cause your helping me make models and texturing, ha ha. Rhett get started on the moosique. It's go time. Speaking of going, I am actually on the can right now. With a laptop of course.

moddeling finals

Here's some of my character model I am doing for a my modelling class. It's a wulfen, for those unaware of a what a wulfen is, it's a basically a warewolf. Some of the pics you'll notice the ride side is different than the left. While I model I use something called a sub-div proxy that essentially mirrors the other side of my model in a high poly res and updates everytime I tweak the low poly side. The hair is only on one side as well. The last one is a final render. Took a few hours.

I'm not a huge gamer or anything, but... c'mon! Starcraft 2! Granted I'm one of those guys who plays games for the graphics and story value. After finishing FF Tactics, I felt like I read a novel. Granted those FF games very likely put more text in there than a novel. I dreamed I slept with a vampire last night... how weird is that. Still trying to shake it off.

promises of challenge

Hmmmm, I've entertained a notion to challenge my expertise of that an artist and experimenter (please entertain the fact I am still a student however :p). Every post I place, I have to out due or match in quality. I only entertained this because in practice, it doesn't make for a very engrossing blog. Like a story without conflict, it leaves it uninteresting. You only see my successes in design, animation, and 3D. However, I won't publish doodles that aren't even worthy of surfacing in a toddlers sketchbook. Just the ones I want to share. So the main motivation behind this post was simply to not miss a weekly (though erratic) post. If I want this SOB blog filled with content, I have to be vigilant and do so continuously. So this first one is Thulsa Doom from Conan by Robert E. Howard's Conan books. Following is Conan himself. Sometime I will have some Conan animations shortly. I already have two, but you know, I'm a shy guy. Next is an African descent man drawn in blue pencil. After that is a generic warrior swinging his sword around. Most of these, I try not to dwell too long on them. I try the hardest to draw something that someone can understand in the simplest of terms without having to undergo hours of rendering a drawing or colouring. If I can't make someone understand a 2 minute drawing, then why bother spending hours on it? Those are the things that don't get published from my sketchbook. The failings...

Last post I realized I didn't add a title or what naught. Here's a design I did for a mod called 'Intelligent Design.' The head guy Zunni is pretty cool and chillin' guy. But yeah, I was harangued for a time in between school and these other designs I did. This is just the most finished one and very likely wont be used as a model in the game. I wont release the stats and functions of all the characters because that would just be rude and the mod team would lose a lot of interest from its supporters.

Wow now ain't that ridiculous, it's been a month since I posted last. Well anywho, here's some new pics that are actually quite old. I plan on doing some fun character designs (in colour!) within some time soon here. I plan on having an animated bunch of intros and middle sequences in my demo reel traditionally animated. Hence I need characters. I have a whole lot drawn up, but none finalized or coloured through photoshop. Anyways, here's some pro life pics I did for Bonnie the head organizer of the UNBC pro life team. She never really told me if she liked them or wanted me to elaborate on them. It's kinda funny in that way I guess.

Smelly Polygons

Well here's the previous character but now in 3D. Doesn't look so hot even though it's a cartoony character. I need more geometry in the face; and having reference pictures would have possibly made it a little better. There's a lot of things I could have done better, EG: made his suspenders and belt loops, even adding some quick eyeballs, sticking his pistol in there, and adding some extra quality time to the texture. In the mean time, I also have the previous postings' character coloured in Flash, and his face and head is half done in the animation assets. So you should see him talking soon. Possibly in the next post.

Not a very original title is it? Well not to worry as this is the first blog post ever. I am sure most people will not even read this far back. I do have a website, but it isn't set up for a blog. I use it to put portfolio pieces up there. Soon, I'll put some of them here. There'll be flash content on my other site as well. Awesome, soon I'll have a big ' ole ' custom made blog with a neat template and all. In case there are those of you who do not know me reading, I am taking a 2D/3D animation course in Vancouver, Canada at the Art Institute of Vancouver. Born in Kitamaat, and raised in Prince George and happily in a relationship with my darling over on the island.
